It had been a bit since I’d seen a grind house-y kinda film and Dolly was definitely a throwback to that era and its resurgence in the early 2000’s. An absurd film with an equally absurd antagonist it follows Stifler and his girlfriend into the woods for a hike when they stumble upon a bunch of dolls that are tied eerily to trees all around them. It’s spooky for sure, but they brush it off and get on with their day. Big, life-changing things are about to happen for them when they encounter the biggest doll of the bunch… and her shovel?

If you’re a fan of the vibes found in the films of Rob Zombie or Hooper, then this one is for you. It’s also less than 90 minutes and the acting and production were quite good. Was also shot in good ole 35mm, if that’s remotely important to you. Sound and gore effects were solid with a few solidly earned “eeewwwww” moments.

See it with a dear friend like I did (thanks again John). This is a fun one to see with a pal or a group!
